Help for small businesses and families

BUSINESS BRIEFS

Welding classes at midnight

Midnight welding classes at Clackamas Community College started as an experiment last spring. With the welding shop at capacity during the day, the college added a graveyard shift of welding classes two nights a week.

Students in the graveyard welding classes include people who are changing careers as well as those trying to increase their skills, Phelps said.

Welders are in high demand in Portland and in the state, one of the top 20 occupations identified by the state Employment Department through 2016.

For additional information, please contact Janet Paulson at 503-657-6958, ext. 2307.

Remedy to Portland Leaf Recycling Dilemma

After receiving the local news on Channel 8 and Channel 2 News presentations regarding the City of Portland's inability to offer leaf cleanup and knowing that $2.50 per bag for curbside pick up is "just too much to pay", the McFarlane Family has decided to make an exception and offer a discount for Fall Leaf Cleanup to the Portland, Vancouver and surrounding Metropolitan areas.

$6.00 for pick up trucks of any size and $2.00 per car.  (Normal rates are $38.00 per ton with an $8.00 minimum; so it is easy to note that this is a huge discount for the homeowner).

Effective immediately.  Valid through December 31st, 2009.

Drop off 8am - 5pm Monday - Saturday, 13345 SE Johnson Rd, Milwaukie or call 503-659-4240 for more information.
