Kudos Corners
How members use other
members’ services is very important to all, and the more ways we
can let people know who used what business and their positive
results, the more beneficial the Chamber is as a connector of
those businesses.

Blankets and Bears Needed
Every child who visits the Children’s Center
receives a new blanket and stuffed animal. Because
of high demand for our services, the Children’s Center is
running low on blankets and stuffed animals. Blankets should be
lap-size and can be fleece, cotton or any other snugly fabric.
Stuffed animals can be lions, tigers or bears (or any other
stuffed animal).
Other items needed this holiday season include:
Children’s G-rated movies and books, (Spanish also needed);
Nintendo DS for the waiting room; Grocery store gift cards in
any amount for snacks for the children; Office Depot gift cards
in any amount for basic office supplies; 8 ½ x 11 copy paper –
white or color.

information, contact Shauna Lugar, Development Manager

Family Business Program of Oregon State University’s College of
Business.
This statewide recognition

Entrepreneurs, and owner of Pamplin Media Groups, including
Community Newspapers, Portland Tribune and two AM radio
stations. The Clackamas Review/Oregon City News is part of the
Community Newspapers group.
The Director’s Award from
Austin Family Business Program went to Pendleton Woolen Mills, a
company with an amazing sales store on McLoughlin Blvd.
Pendleton’s home city remains in Pendleton, OR. The company
recently celebrated their centennial with design and weaving of
a special blanket, the Spirit of the Peoples.
A Milwaukie family owned and
operated company was named a medium category finalist.
NatureBake/Dave’s Killer Bread was honored for their growth and

bread line to several area markets, and also has products
available at their International Way production and sales room
site.
Congratulations to these

Turning the corner
Although
it may be some time before we get the official word from the National
Bureau of Economic Research, the U.S. economy finally appears to have
turned the corner, and an end to the recession is in sight. The S&P 500
broke the 1,000 level, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose above
9,000, housing sales and starts have increased of late and prices are
stabilizing, and credit market spreads are down significantly from the
levels seen six months ago.
