NEW MEMBER PROFILE |

|

Giftable, Generous, Gratifying
That's how your employee
programs and gift giving should feel. Sales incentives, holiday,
new customer welcome, promotions, service awards, safety awards,
thank yous, employee weddings/new baby, corporate events. . .
You use recognition, you use
incentives but the prize doesn't seem to fit the price. You
want a solution that's: easy to manage, fits your budget,
creates a good impression of you and your company, is flexible
and versatile, and feels valued and personal to the recipient.
Shelley Enterprises and
Ribbon Gifts can do that and it's effortless for you!
Ribbon is always the perfect
gift and so much more personal than a gift card. Recipients get
to choose their own gift. For more than 40 years Ribbon has
been a wonderful way to give. Suzanne Shelley has been in
business for 10 years and enjoys working with people to enhance
their programs and make gift giving a true pleasure. Visit

Expanded "Move
Over" law begins 2010
Effective
January 1, 2010, a car or truck must
move over into another lane, or slow down if on a road
with only one lane in each direction, when passing a police
car, ambulance, emergency vehicle, tow vehicle, or roadside
assistance vehicle parked on the side of the road with flashing
warning lights. If a car or truck driver can only slow down when
passing, it must slow to at least five miles an hour below
the speed limit for that highway section.
The Class B
traffic violation carries a $242 fine, but it increases to $355
if it occurs within a safety corridor, school zone, or work
zone.
Oregon's safe distance law
is commonly called Maria's Law in honor of Maria Mignano, a
Senior Trooper who died in 2001, along with Albany Police
Officer Jason Hoerauf, when a car driver fell asleep and struck
them on the roadside of I-5 north of Albany. Another trooper,
Sgt. John Burright, was forced to retire because of injuries he
sustained in the accident. As a result of that incident and
others where officers were injured or killed during road-side
stops or assists, Oregon legislators established the violation
for failure to maintain a safe distance. Similar laws are in
effect in 42 other states. |

New cell phone law effective
2010
House Bill 2377 prohibits all
drivers from using a mobile communication device while operating
a motor vehicle. A mobile communication device is defined
as "a text messaging device or a wireless, two-way
communication device designed to receive and transmit voice or
text communication".
Under the new law, if you are over
the age of 18, you may use a wireless device if you are using a
hands free accessory that allows you to keep both hands on the
wheel while you are driving. Drivers that are under the age of
18 may not use a wireless device in any case except specific
situations such as an emergency or farming or agricultural
operations.
Like all hands-free laws the usual exceptions include
emergencies, safety workers, persons 18 years of age or older
using a
hands-free accessory and emergency services
personnel. Prior to this bill only driver's under the age of 18
were prohibited from using an Cell Phone while they were
driving.

Outdoor Debris Burning
Improving Open Burning Practices and Policies: The Good, the Bad and
the Ugly. Many residents and farms currently burn yard debris,
agricultural waste and forestry material. Recreational campfires are
common. Smoke from outdoor fires is a regular source of neighborhood
disputes. It is time for a cool-headed conversation about a very hot
topic!
Join Clackamas Fire District #1 and other interested residents for an
Open Burning Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, December 8th 2009 at
Clackamas Fire District #1 Training Center, 15990 SE 130th Ave. in
Clackamas. Doors will open at 5:30pm. Due to space limitations,
public attendance is limited to the first 130 people. |
