New Year – New employment landscape
As we enter the holiday season we also enter a time of year when some laws will soon be changing, and employers will have new systems to consider.
Luckily, Oregon has a labor commissioner who understands businesses’ need to know and is proactively engaged in business discussions and clarification.
Area business representatives will have an opportunity to hear from Brad Avakian, Oregon’s Labor Commission, on November 19 as he tries to demystify the Bureau of Labor and Industries, and let business owners know what’s on the landscape for 2010.
Commissioner Avakian will discuss a variety of labor questions, and provide information about new laws and the future of the Technical Assistance for Employers Program.
This will be a breakfast event, to be held at the Clackamas County Public Safety Building on Sunnybrook, with the Bomber Restaurant as caterer. This Eggs ‘N Issues event will feature full breakfast at $12 per person. Reservations are required and may be made at www.yourchamber.com. Click on the Eggs ‘N Issues in the white box.
