PROMOTINGTHECOMMUNITY

Oregon’s attorney general has reviewed and approved Providence’s affiliation with Willamette Falls Hospital. This important decision clears the way for the two organizations to officially join together on Oct. 1, 2009, bringing renewed commitment to excellent health services for people cared for by Willamette Falls Hospital.

This process has been – and continues to be – the direct result of the work and dedication of so many people. We have truly appreciated the advice, feedback and support of our employees, physicians, advisors, community leaders and elected officials. In the past months, we also have worked with Attorney General John Kroger and his team, whose diligence has led us to this announcement today, and whose oversight and conditions will ensure continued quality health services to Oregonians. Following his staff’s comprehensive review, Providence Health & Services has agreed to all of the conditions set forth by the attorney general in his findings.

“We are excited to move forward with this new partnership with Providence,” said Russ Reinhard, WFH president and chief executive officer. “It means a lot to those of us who are dedicated to Willamette Falls Hospital, and it means a lot to the continued health of our community.”

The affiliation is official on Oct. 1. The hospital will be known as Providence Willamette Falls Medical Center. Through the rest of the year, employees of both organizations will work closely to join together all services, policies and divisions.
