download application
Objective: Leadership Clackamas County is a program designed to encourage and develop current and future leaders in many segments of our county. Through the program, participants will enhance their leadership skills, become more knowledgeable of community issues and challenges and gain firsthand information from current community leaders.
Concept: Participants will attend a full-day workshop the first Wednesday of each month for nine months. Class members will participate in interactive opportunities, visit valuable community organizations and hone their presentation skills. Each session addresses a different issue and is held at various locations with a number of field trips.
Eligibility: Applicants should clear their calendars and have sincere commitment, motivation and interest in service to the Clackamas County area. Participants must be able to devote the time necessary to attend all sessions and graduate from the program.
Schedule: Those selected will begin their program with a daylong workshop in October geared toward team building and personal development skills. November through June classes begin and end at a central location and often include field trips. Days ordinarily begin around 7:30 AM, and conclude at 5:00 PM. Graduation is held in June.
Tuition: The total cost for the program per student is $600. This includes all workshop sessions, class materials, bus transportation when needed, meals and snacks at sessions and graduation. Additionally, each class develops and implements a community service project, which may or may not take additional personal time and/or finances. Class projects are determined by the entire class.
Selection: Due to the limited number of spaces for students in the program, applicants will be selected on a first-come basis. Up to 24 individuals will be selected for the program based upon written applications. Application period: April 01, 2008 through September 3, 2008.
