Geocaching is a high-tech, family oriented treasure hunting game. GPS devices are used to locate hidden containers, called geocaches. Inside the geocaches is a code that you log on a piece of paper. If you get 10 out of 12 codes you can submit your log for a coin.
Adventure seekers of all ages search for geocaches throughout the world and then share their experiences online. This challenge will attract visitors to our area and encourage locals to explore our area. Geocaching is also stimulating to the economy. While people search around they will be learning of local businesses in the area.
We have some 2015-16 coins left if you haven’t yet fulfilled the challenge. Visit Mt. Hood Territory to find out more about all the participating communities.
Unforeseen circumstances have caused us to put the Geocache Challenge on hold for 2016-2017. Stay tuned in 2017 for an update on the program resuming.
