Video works by artist Fernanda D’Agostino are featured in a new exhibit opening in the Alexander Gallery at Clackamas Community College on Monday, October 7. “On Screen: Fernanda D’Agostino: Single Channel Videos 2007 – 2013” continues through December 12.

D’Agostino’s exhibition is a video installation that consists of five projected works that explore ideas of ritual and cyclical transitions, architecture, interactions between art and science and civic propaganda. These works are experimental videos that at times have coupled with mixed media installations. The artist utilizes footage she has captured through travel, life experiences and mass media samplings in combination with various digital manipulation techniques to create works that explore new ways of perceiving imagery and content.

D’Agostino is a native of New Jersey. She received her master of fine arts degree from the University of Montana, where she studied ceramic sculpture and performance art. She moved to Portland in 1985 and began a year-long residency at the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts. Her work has received numerous awards including the Bonnie Bronson Fellowship, Flintridge Foundation Fellowship and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andy Warhol Foundation.

An artist’s reception will take place at CCC on Thursday, Oct. 10, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Alexander Gallery, with the artist speaking at 1 p.m. The Alexander Gallery is located in the Niemeyer Center at CCC’s Oregon City campus. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during special events. For further information please contact Kate Simmons at 503-594-3032.
