The 2013 edition of the annual Clackamas/Happy Valley Safety and Roadway Fair will be held at Clackamas Town Center on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free to all activities.
Safety booths will be located inside and outside the mall near Sears. More than 20 organizations will be there to educate adults and children on a variety of safety-related issues, including how to call 9-1-1, water and fire safety, pet adoption and school bus safety.
Special events and offers will include:
- Free helmets (while supplies last) for children 18 years and younger who visit safety stations, and reduced-price helmets available for adults.
- Free child identification kits from Secure Child
- Life jacket fitting demonstrations by American Medical Response
- Equipment demonstration by representatives from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Marine and Traffic Units
- A Portland General Electric display of its “Hazard Hamlet” to illustrate electrical risks at home
- The Clackamas County Fire District #1 education trailer to give children the chance to practice safe evacuation, and
- A crashed car from Oregon Impact to educate people on the dangers of impaired driving
- Riding pedal cars on Safety Street for children 8 years old and younger
- Prizes for all children
Experts from the Oregon Department of Transportation, Team Oregon (motorcycle safety) and TriMet will also share information about safety, and the Clackamas County Transportation Maintenance Department will bring large equipment for children to see.
