What is a Certificate of Origin?
A Certificate of Origin (CO) is a key international trade document that verifies the country in which goods were manufactured. Many foreign governments require COs to:
- Assess import duties and tariffs
- Enforce bilateral and multilateral trade agreements
- Ensure compliance with import regulations and restrictions
While some countries accept an origin statement on the commercial invoice, others—such as Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and several Middle Eastern nations—require a standalone Certificate of Origin in a specific format, signed and stamped by a recognized Chamber of Commerce.

Documents Covered
The certificate of origin is the most common, you are able to submit other documents for ‘chamberization’ through Chamber Certification. This includes certificates of free sale, invoices, manufacturer’s declarations, and other documents which may need to be stamped, signed, and issued by a chamber of commerce.
Apostille and Legalization
Some countries require additional servicing to be done such as notarization, apostille, or even having the document presented to the embassy for legalization. Through Chamber Certification, exporters can request documents go through this additional processing for any country they may be exporting to.

Non-Members: $70 per certified Certificate of Origin

If there are any changes to the individuals authorized to sign Certificates of Origin—or to the scope of their signing authority—you must notify the Chamber immediately. Failure to do so may delay processing or invalidate certification eligibility. These materials may be emailed in advance to info@yourchamber.com or brought to the Chamber at the time of your appointment.
