On June 6th, the 70th anniversary of D-Day and the Allied landing on the beaches of Normandy, Oregon will dedicate its memorial to those Oregonians who served in World War II. Please join the Historical Outreach Foundation (HOF) and the Brigadier General James B. Thayer Oregon Military Museum (OMM) as we honor our World War II veterans. We need your help today to be sure that the Oregon World War II Memorial Foundation meets the final costs of the project, and to continue the education efforts already in motion by HOF and the OMM.

In just a few months, veterans, families, and friends will be able to visit a site honoring the men and women who are part of our Greatest Generation. The Salem site will include a memorial wall, a 33-foot granite obelisk, and a kiosk where visitors can learn more about the people and events of World War II. Many have already contributed to help build the memorial, and now we want to give every Oregonian the chance to be part of this historic moment.

The World War II Memorial Foundation is asking everyone to contribute what they can on the Indiegogo crowd funding site. The money raised will go to complete the construction of the memorial, and to purchase “story kits” to enable us to collect stories from World War II veterans and home front workers so that they may be preserved for future generations. This campaign is all about sharing, so please take a moment to spread the word about this campaign through Facebook, personal email messages, and on Twitter.  Here are the links to share with your friends, family and colleagues who may want to participate:
