The month of March is the Milwaukie Center’s annual March for Meals fundraising campaign for the Meals on Wheels program. Meals on Wheels, a program where volunteers deliver meals to older adults and people with disabilities, provides more than 65,000 meals annually. Join North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District, which operates the Milwaukie Center, in this month-long campaign to ensure that no senior goes hungry.

More than 100 volunteer drivers deliver meals to the most vulnerable population in North Clackamas County – the fragile, homebound and elderly. The meals are prepared five days a week from the Milwaukie Center, and service is available seven days a week for nearly 200 residents, who rely on daily service.

Local businesses from throughout the area have signed on to help with the campaign. Bob’s Red Mill is matching all donations made at their Milwaukie store. The Happy Valley New Season Market is taking donations at the register, and the McLoughlin branch of Clackamas Federal Credit Union is also taking donations. Each dollar raised during this campaign supports the daily operations of the Milwaukie Center’s nutrition program (Meals on Wheels). Each meals costs $6 to produce, $3 of which is reimbursed through federal funds. The annual March for Meals drive is a crucial fundraising tool to support the program’s success.

Here’s what you can do to support Meals on Wheels:
•         Make a donation when you check out at Bob’s Red Mill Store, 5000 S.E. International Way, Milwaukie, and Bob’s will match your donation.
